Find Newspapers Using ProQuest

  1. Through ProQuest, Coastline students and faculty have access to the following national newspapers:

    1. Washington Post
    2. New York Times
    3. Wall Street Journal
    4. Los Angeles Times
    5. Christian Science Monitor

  2. The articles in these newspapers are available online in full text from about 1986; for articles published before 1986, the citations for articles are available, but the text must be obtained from a print collection.

  3. From any screen within ProQuest, click on the "Search Methods" tab in the horizontal menu bar at the top of the page, and click on the "Publication" link.

Click here to view a screenshot in a pop-up window.

  4. Type the title of the publication (tricky), or one or two keywords from the title to obtain a list of appropriate titles.

Click here to view a screenshot in a pop-up window.

  5. The search, shown in section 4, containing both "times" and "york" yields the results in this screenshot (opens in a pop-up window).

  6. If the query had been "times" and "angeles," the results would be quite different!

  7. Once you have selected a title, you will be able to select the appropriate issue date, and then you can browse the contents from the list of citations.
