- Go to the Other
Libraries page (there is a link on the Library
home page and on the right and bottom of most of the
Library pages).
Select either Golden West or Orange Coast College under
Cal-West
Consortium of Libraries. The first screen you encounter
will look like one of the examples below:
- The Orange Coast screen gives
you the opportunity to select immediately the type of search;
at Golden West, you must first select "Search Catalog."
- The search screens for the
"Basic Search" (GWC) and the "Simple Search"
(OCC) are nearly identical. In both cases, you may put a
key word in the search box and then select below which field
the computer should search:
- The "Advanced Search"
option, except for color and font style, is identical at
both GWC and OCC:
- Both systems default to a
list of brief records for the books that answer the query.
At a glance, you can quickly see what is available, where
in the library it is located, and whether or not the item
is available for check out or not.
- Being able to check the holdings
and availability of items from the comfort of home, classroom,
or office is a great convenience for busy students and faculty
members alike.
- In order to check out materials
from local community college libraries, you must first obtain
a library card from the appropriate college library. All
you need is proof that you are a currently enrolled student
or currently employed faculty member.
