    Select "Collections & Services."

  3. At the "To search MELVYL Catalog" page, click on the "TITLE" button:

  4. The "Title Search" screen permits you to use key words from the title and the last name of the author to find a specific book. By selecting the university campus nearest you, the search engine will return results for that campus only:

  5. The results of the search will be returned to you in this format. To get more information about the book you are looking for, click on the "Display" button:

  6. The display then shows you the complete record for each copy of the book in that library’s collection. It also shows which other UC libraries have copies of that particular book. In the case shown below, the UCI library has 2 copies of the book: one for circulation (check-out), and one in the Reserve Collection (no check-out). To find out if the circulating book is available, click on "(circ status)":

  7. In this case, Shadowed Lives: undocumented immigrants in American society has been checked out from the Main Library, and it is currently unavailable from the Reserve Collection. You might click on the UCLA link to see if it is available there, depending on how badly you need the book and how inconvenient it is to drive to West Lost Angeles.

At the California Digital Library home page, you may wish to take a look at the "User Guides" for more information about the system, finding resources, and other research related topics.

At UCI, fee cards, which permit community college students to borrow materials, are available at reduced rates to students at local community colleges. Cards may be purchased through the We Support UCI Libraries organization at the Loan Desk in the Main Library. The fee will be around $25.00 and the card will permit you to borrow materials for six months. You must bring proof of your Coastline status to the desk.

Go to the California Digital Library.
